Church History

Elder Harold Durham, Pastor of Better Way Apostolic Church (BWAC), has an over ten year history, full of experiences that cultivated his heart into full dedication, compassion and commitment to the work of God.  Imagine taking a journey down a road less traveled, marked with solitude and sacrifice, as well as joy and peace, walking with the Lord.  Elder Harold Durham is a man of vision.  He enjoys teaching, preaching, and seeing people's lives being transformed for the better.

Elder Durham was born on January 9, 1959 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Harold James Durham and the late Mamie Durham.  Pastor Durham attended school in the Forth Worth Independent School District.  As a teenager he was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Pastor Durham was under the leadership of Dr. Robert Etheridge for twenty years.  Pastor Durham is a graduate of Paul Quinn College of Dallas, Texas.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management.

As a single parent of three children (Robert, Tiffany and Donelle) he met Evangelist Shirley Denean Trotter and her son (Erva).  Evangelist Durham was born in Linden, Texas to the late Willard Givens and Eloise Givens of Dallas, Texas.  Their friendship blossomed and they were united in Holy Matrimony on May 13, 1993.  On September 25, 1994, they had an addition to the family (Porshua).  Evang. Durham was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost, in Killen, Texas under the leadership of Elder Lester McComb, at Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith Temple.  Evang. Durham is also a graduate of Paul Quinn College of Dallas, Texas with a B.S. Degree in Organizational Management.

In 1997, the 7 members of the Durham Family formed the beginning of BWAC; all active in different talents.  After 2 months of continuing with the work of the ministry, Sis. Diane Triggs became the first member.  In 1998 the Lord brought BWAS to higher grounds, providing us with land and the opportunity to build at 5403 Yaupon Drive in Arlington, Texas.  BWAC is presently meeting at the Best Western Inn at 3501 East Division Street in Arlington, Texas.  The community is provided with an Anger Management Program; Ministries for Men, Women, Children, Married Couples, Singles and numerous opportunities for spiritual enrichment.
